Structure this listening to distinguish occasional frustrations from recurring problems.
Examine available data
Digital projects depend on data quality. The assessment should review sources, duplicates, formats and reliability.
This avoids promising dashboards or automation the data cannot yet support.
Turn findings into priorities
An assessment only has value when it leads to decisions. Rank findings by impact, feasibility, risk and dependencies.
The roadmap then becomes a decision tool rather than a catalogue of initiatives.
Put it into practice
Start the assessment with observable evidence.
Prepare a sample case and the documents it passes through. Describe work as it happens, including workarounds and informal approvals. A polished diagram is not enough if it ignores actual practice.
